Minion Hunter
Minion Hunter
Anybody still own/play the DC boardgame that was published by GDW back in '92?
We actually drug this out and played a game last weekend. I had forgotten how fun the game could be. All of us, even the kid we had over that had never played DC, said that "we really should get a game of Dark Conspiracy up, this really wants to make me play".
Are there any plans from TGC to do a reprint of this? Or perhaps a digital version?
I know that there was a PC version of Minion Hunter in existance at some point, but I am having no luck finding it.

Unfortunately, our current licence doesn't include the rights to Minion Hunter. this doesn't mean to say that we can't secure them at a later date, but rather DC the RPG is our main focus at the moment. Are there any plans from TGC to do a reprint of this? Or perhaps a digital version?
I do have to add that Minion Hunter is a cool little game, although it does get quickly out of hand with money, etc.

Ah yes, Minion Hunter holds many good memories for me. As with any properly done boardgame based upon an RPG, you can set it up and play through in about the same time as it can take to generate characters, at least if there's a group all starting at once. I still think corner-hopping is a bit naughty though, but hey we're fighting the nasties, right?

No, it's not combinable directly with the game, although it would probably work as an excellent intro to the DC universe for RPG-shy newbies.
Due to my recent renewed interest in the game I've been developing a little Access application that removes the need for the Plot deck and fills in gap with the random tables from teh Minion Nation supplement.

Minion Hunter is just about the best board game ever. I know so many people that play it who are not gamers. I find playing cooperativly is the only way to go (but I actaully know one guy that did not, and of course we lost quickly.) The optional rules are what make it really work. We use the Rescuer, Money Wire Transfers, and Fame causing all plots to increase. I think we win about half the time. The real beauty of the game is that you reall all win or lose together.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I hope we live up to expectations!!!... I am just happy that DC is going to be revived. It was one of the best RPGs ever. I think now it will be even better...

Well...
After all the discussion in this post about Minion Hunter, I just had to drag it out and have a play.
It was fun, although compared to many modern boardgames it was a little one dimensional (no pun intended), and lacked a real 'ramp-up' in the pace at the conclusion.
Just for the record, the Minion Hunters defeated the threats (mainly due to the proto dimensional travel skill of a couple of the players, who kept on knocking back the leading plots!). I was the most famous in the end, but it was close between Julia - the next largest collector of Fame and myself (two points!)...
We did have some funny things happen however, including the fight I lost against some Fey folk, who as well as sending me to hospital, stole my Zil. Anyway the next player tries to defeat the same Fey in turn, only to also fail. Immediately we declared that the Fey folk had run him over in the Zil
This 'roleplaying' was back up shortly afterwards when the third player encountered the 'Animated Auto' minor plot - those bl**dy Fey and my Zil!!
Anyway, it was a fun game, and I could see lots of potential for redevelopment. But let's just get the RPG out first shall we!
