Anyone seen this new(ish) game from Wicked World games (http://wicked-world.se) - a Swedish company by the looks. The setting seems very much Aliens (the movie) meets Dead Space (the computer game) with a bit of Lovecraftian horror added to the mix.
I grabbed a copy and am slow working my way through the very thick book (315 pages) in the hopes of running a one-off session next Friday.
Anyone else seen or read this?

Not heard of it before, but seems not a million miles away from the Void rpg discussed on another thread?

That's a new one to me too, and I have a few Scandinavian gamer friends. Let us know how it goes Marcus

Re: Cold & Dark
Go it in one... it is very similar to Void, but I have to say that I like the general setting more. Shame it's a little bit mechanics heavy (for me - I go for very light rules these days), and focuses a little too much on the computer game-like aspects.Linden wrote:Not heard of it before, but seems not a million miles away from the Void rpg discussed on another thread?
Still I have a one-off session planned for Friday week, so I'll update everyone on the results then.

Re: Cold & Dark
Hmmmm... so this one's called off even before the session starts. Why? Well not for the usual last minute (or in this case, week before) absence, nor the lack of interest from either myself or the players...
Rather, the issue is with the mechanics. Hours of head butting the desk as I try and decipher the character creation rules and I'm sorry but I'm calling it quits. It's not that the system won't work, but rather it just very hard to decipher. The reason being? Well, the writing. The English is not bad (as I pointed out in my email to my players - the authors can write English much, much better than I know Swedish), but it's just that the grammar and sentence construction are in a desperate need for one more edit.
I'm a pretty liberal bloke when it comes to interpreting game mechanics, and I'm not adverse to throwing in the occasional 'fudge' to get things to work on paper, but this went beyond a joke. A shame really as I absolutely wanted to love this game...
So does that mean my gaming won't take place Friday? Hell no! I'm running the same scenario (that I wrote myself) with good old reliable Mini Six

Might be worth running a whole campaign using MiniSix? As Void seems to be delayed yet again I'm toying with the idea of buying Chthonian Stars and running it using our favourite rules light system.
Look forward to hearing how your game goes.
