A new DC fan website

Post by ReHerakhte »

Okay, so besides the Players and some friends who have been reviewers and Mr Miller at FFE, you guys are the first to know...
I have been working on a DC site for part of last year for private use and I intend to make it public this week. Specifically Friday 15th Jan (Australian time). As I am GMT +8, this could turn out to be Thursday 14th Jan for some of you.

I'm still trying to finish some things but real life (curse it!) is getting in the way. It's been delayed for three months already so somethings aren't as ready as I'd like but one of the guys who has been reviewing the site has been using it and he wants his Players to be able to share it so I have got off my arse and committed to a release date

As always with the things I work on, the site will probably never be finished and always in a state of "work in progress"
The site is a support site for my Dark Conspiracy - London campaign and for those of you who recall the additions to armour I posted here some time back, there's a whole lot more equipment for you to view because I love big equipment lists!

As always, it's there to share so pillage what you can use and change it if you need to :D

The web address will be http://sites.google.com/site/darkconspiracylondon/

Cheers,
Kevin

Looking forward to it, Kevin. Definitely one for the favourites/bookmarks. I'll put a link in from my site once you're up and running.

YAY!

Post by AkDragoon »

YAY! Another Fan site!

Any people out there who are running, planning on running should seriously consider contributing 15 minutes to an hour a week on a site for their campaign (isn't google sites wonderful?).

Also, on a totaly unrelated note:
http://sites.google.com/site/dcintothedarkness/
my site again

Your site is very comprehensive, and I can tell you spent a lot of time on it. Good job.

Also, will there be updates as to the players, the adventures, and the story line, as time goes on?

Initially it was set up so the Players could get the info they needed without having to phone/email/visit me inbetween sessions so it's very much biased towards helping them rather than being 'public viewing'. I only had vague plans to make the site public so there wasn't much thought given to making a log of the PCs adventures on the site.

Unfortunately some of the Players left town due to their jobs (one from Perth to Kununurra, a country town approximately 3000km away and the other moved to Poland and still has 6 months to go) and one Player has just drifted off and not bothered to contact any of us to explain the situation (so the group has gone from 6 to 3 Players).
That has stopped the games for the moment as one character, TC, is a major group member (he has the most street experience as well as some combat experience - he's a former criminal) and the other is ex-Russian military (and has the most combat experience and for the moment, the best weapon - everyone else had pistols). The Player who drifted away had the groups science-type character.
I really don't like playing somebody's character for them (especially because there's three of them) so there's only three Players left to try and deal with the story

So the site is something I'm working on while I wait for at least one of the Players to move back to Perth so we can relaunch the game
I've kept notes on each session and because the site is still "a work in progress", a log will be easy enough to put onto the site... then the whole sewer pig situation would be explained, oh and the demon cow situation

Phew, sorry for the 'novella' of an answer!
Cheers,
Kevin

Had a quick look at Kevin's site. Looks like quality and there's a lot of it. Am hoping to browse through it at a more leisurely pace some time this weekend.

Very nice, now I'm statting the Jaguar E convertable for UK and US as one of the Firefly's competators-just flip the driver/passenger positions. Also some Ford/Revlon stuff. What other vehilces would make a return or still be around? Aren't there motorcycles that would have a renewed fanbase among poor patriots?

Having recently watched Children of Men it seems the Renault Meganne is going to be vehicle of choice in the near future UK.

I've intended to add more French and German cars to the vehicles because I see them as two of a handful of nations in Europe in a strong enough position to manufacture high tech and high quality goods in my campaign.

However, the Meganne hardtop has a rear end that is seriously ugly :P

Alas, the British and (to a large extent) European motorcycle industries are pretty much in the toilet :( There are plenty of scooter makers in Europe, so a patriotic Frenchman or Italian would have no trouble supporting his home, but we Brits aren't in that position. The only actual maker in the UK at the moment is Triumph, and as a former motorcyclist I can say that modern Triumphs are decent bikes, but they aren't really budget machines!

I would suggest that, given the economic background of Dark Conspiracy, the streets of London and other major British and European cities will be jammed with twist-&-go scooters or small capacity bikes like the ubiquitous Honda Cub series. The larger machinery would be much rarer than today.

Long winded there, sorry 8)

Thanks, the German stuff is supposed to be luxery goods, what about Mini Coopers. I'm thinking Ford/Revlon escorts with Volkswagon rabbits for wealthier Mikes.

Yes, a very ugly car, but I thought it suited the grungy look of the film.

Absolutely, the contrast it provides makes the film more interesting, here's a typical British city with lots of British aspects to it but most of the cars are imports and imports from France no less!
It leads you to wonder about the state of affairs in the UK especially when you see how well equipped (or not) the military is in the film.

Now I'm thinking I should add the Meganne to my list of vehicle cards
