Hell yes! They indeed are. But the good thing is the economic collapse of DC which allowes the GM to use some of them outside the poorest countries. The current concept for the military and its role in the "collapse" is that the bulk of the armed services is a mostly conscript force (Nati...

I also use Fire Fusion and Steel, Dinosaurs and Cadillacs, and Traveller:The New Era. FF&S, I use to design deathrays and Grey DarkTek as well as advanced corp-tech. C&D, I use for the dinosaurs. These I use as a starting point for largish dark lords / beasties. TNE, I use for the beastie de...

I was a little concerned with this model until you said that all the rules information found in the sample adventure would be in the Referee's Guide. What? We can't copy the Games Workshop business model? Throw out a bunch of contradictory rules, then issue a later book that invalidates most of you...

Re: This belongs elsewhere...

In my opinion AV:8 is a bit tough, unless the creature is vehicle-sized. It would be. My intention would be for it appear at the climax of a 2-3 scenario mini-campaign, after the PCs have dealt with its various minions, ie. Igors, zombies and other hangers on. Give the PCs a memorable final battle ...

PS: I'm okay with moving Pyro and cryo out of psionics, but did you at least leave them TK? er...no, TK is in neuropathics. That moved because it is an external power. The 1stEd image of the psionic being the center of a whirlwind of empathic power (reference the 2-page illustration in the suppleme...

Well the draft rules are advanced along enough to chime in here (a little late, I am sorry). The core rules will have a set of skills that are available to all characters to some degree or another. All humans in DC have EMP>0. But not all have the skills. The players and referee negotiate the empath...

Other darklings use a form of Project Thought/Fear for their illusions. One could argue that Ravagers have a special form of project thought and that peircing the illusion is different to accomplish. One can play all this as an opposed Project Throught by the darkling -- in which case Willpower is t...

Dark Conspiracy Movie Database -- New Location

Well, I went and did it. I took all Chris Carpenter's stuff and threw it up onto a web page -- CMS actually. You can find it here: http://protodimension.org/dcmdb/ I redid his icons, added one for TV/Video. Threw in all his movies and the original write-ups. And added some more movies. Lee helped me...

would like to see big bore rifles in the game if they are not already there. I favor either the M107 .50 Caliber Special Application Scoped Rifle SASR Long Range Sniper Rifle (LRSR) ( http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/m107.htm ) or the Daisy M600 in 14.5 mm ( http://world.guns.r...

According to wikipedia, "Alone in the Dark" was loosely patterned after CoC. However, the 2005 movie of the same name staring Christian Slater was definitely DC-like more so than the game.

Just got through watching The Dark. It is actually a Welsh ghost story, but it is a pretty good representation of a trapped emapthic creature stuck in a p-dim, Annwyn. Speaking of p-Dims there is House 2: The Second Story which features Cliff Claven of Cheers fame wielding a sab...

New or Old Products

It seems to me that the short term goal is to get an economically viable Core Rulebook on the streets. Note the words economically viable. I did not buy the 2ed books because they were a rehash of the 1ed. I believe that most people had the same impression. The concept of the small format was new, b...

Well, with the Greater Depression driving rural citizens into the cities, smaller cities feel the crunch of diminishing populations. There are some small townships that have done just what you described...gated their entire city. Providing a small militia, fences, walls, and gates, these smaller com...
