The rules were blurry to show how new and unreliable Empathy was supposed to be. The original concept was for emp to be rare. The desire to add spectacular effects into the game caused its current dilemma. How empathy works is supposed to be unknown. Empaths are supposed to be normal Joes with weird...

Dark Masters are like gods, as in Gozer. Their motives may be categorically to consume every known reality they come across. I think it more like putting up curtains and a little paint. They just want to make the dimension 'comfortable'. Of course, that assumes I can understand their motives. The re...

The problem is that a trained NPC with an asset of 12 will always hit at 'close' range if the shot is not aimed. If the shot is aimed and than targeted he will still more often hit the PCs than not. I guess I am not following you. Based on an asset of 12, the NPC is between a veteran and elite and ...

I make Aimed shots for the head one level more difficult, but I also shortenend the aim time. After checking myself, I decided that instead aiming taking a whole phase and then you shoot on the next one, aiming in my game means you only get one shot per phase. Simple.... Called shots are one level ...

I try to bring my NPCs to cover as good as I can but with the DC initiative system they often don't have the time for that. There is a little known rule, that a character can duck for cover on any initiative round. I don't remember if it consumes their next turn or not. I don't think so. But, I tak...

...I suppose it could, but in practice I find that in the hurly burly of combat few NPCs get the chance. Most of the human NPCs my characters get into firefights with are Igors rather than highly trained soldiers or police marksmen... Aiming at the head is difficult to do. Add in things like cover ...

...I also think that it is a good idea to play untrained NPCs rather chaotic in a fire fight. Untrained NPC should have a low Initiative -- like 1. But they will not pick the best targets. Usually the one nearest them. If an untrained NPC neglects the shooter in front to get at the leader to...

That's cause your character does not live long enough for a campaign. And that is with the 5 clones.

I love that game...great at cons!

using snipers & head shots...depends. One case I remember is where the party was too cheap to buy the survivalist equipment. They decided to stage an assault on a survivalist gun shop. Their tactical leader decided to recce, the goon on the roof of the next building rolled a 1. A full metal, bal...

I know this is too late, but I have to share.... I viewed the evil dwarves like the ones from Norse myth. Cunning, crafty creatures that don't like humans much. (Well only on a spit.) The stainless steel train and station were crafted as copies of existing objects by the dwarven kings. No...wait, wr...

My concept for the "loss" of empathy was that it was lost before whatever was behind the gate at Io was locked out. Darklings do not like empaths. Empaths can see them for what they are, resist their influences, and in some cases actively and effectively fight back. All things that the dar...

Just a few notes: Shotguns are outlawed by Geneva convention for front line troops. Ironically, non-Geneva conflicts use them a lot. (Like Viet Nam and Iraq). The folks at GDW recognized the lethality of shotguns at close to medium range. Their lead researcher, Greg Novak (who wrote several miniatur...
