So this is how the ETs get to our solar system

This link was posted to the "Suppressed Transmissions" Google Group and it details some new theories put forward by NASA regarding magnetic 'portals' found in the Earth's upper atmosphere.
The belief is that if the right tech was developed, we could use these portals to travel through space in a manner like the hyperdrive from Star Wars.
It might also be the explanation for all those anomalies in the British TV series

Good call! Maybe Empaths are actually tapping into these portals to access Dimension Walk and so on.

I would like to know how many ships have disappeard through these maelstroms. Even though they seem to appear mostly under water.

Lots. But "they" don't want you to know so they falsify the records so it's up to the PCs to infiltrate the Corporation and find the real records.
Well, that's the game scenario that comes to mind!
