I found this video through an MMO forum (for the game Fallen Earth) and I think it's such an awesome example of simplicity and inventiveness that I want to make use of it in DC.

Locals in Cambodia have made motorized carts for use on the railways using little more than some mini-train wheels, a platform and a motor. The carts are so light they can be lifted off the rails when needed.
The vid-clip doesn't really show anything about it until the 2.00 minute mark (entire clip is about 7 minutes long).
