Microsoft testing data centres that are placed in the water off the coast

Microsoft has been conducting research into the benefits of having self-contained data centres in submergible cannisters. Temperature regulation is easier to achieve by placing the data centre underwater and also by using this method of temperature control, the data centre doesn't require the traditional banks of air conditioning units to keep it cool and so it requires less electricity is used to keep the centre functioning.
This eliminates one of the biggest costs of data centre operation (and also eliminates another large cost, the rent or ownership of a suitable building to house the centre).

While this is not an obvious element of society or technology etc. etc. for use in game, it could be a good background colour element for the gameworld - and it would sure make some interesting adventures if data thieves stole the entire cannister rather than just hacked it...
