What to Review Next?

Post by Marcus Bone »

I'm in a real creative mood right now. I'm running a self written Pulp Cthulhu campaign, have a Conspiracy X scenario in edit, and even a custom game system that I have drafted, On top of this (and a bit of work over at Stormbringerrpg.com site) I'm looking to review something here. But what should it be?

I voted for the self-reflection.
I'm happy to read your reviews for any of the others you listed but I find this idea more appealing because I'm interested to hear if you have changed your ideas over that time, if you would have done anything differently - that sort of thing.

If this does come out on top, I will likely be pretty brutal about the scenario and my situation at the time. I might impact others as well, so we will see where it goes...

Having run Heart of Darkness (subsequent to conducting radical surgery on it) I'd be interested in another perspective. My feeling was that it was potentially a great adventure spoiled by utterly pedestrian execution.

Challenge articles would be interesting, they tended to vary wildly in quality - I suspect because individual writers had very different ideas on what the game was about: La Bossiere obviously saw it as generic horror, Sheeley was heavy on the gun fondling etc etc

I agree with you about Heart of Darkness. I never got the opportunity to run it but I would definitely make some significant changes to it, particularly the sections set in Australia (local knowledge and all that but a simple check of an atlas would have shown that the Australian opal fields are not a "casual drive out from the city" as inferred by Heart of Darkness, they are hundreds of miles away and often reached by gravel tracks rather than proper roads).

it's interesting to see that the poll so far has equal interest in three areas! Which one will eventually come out on top?
