Protodimension Magazine Announcement - Changes are afoot!

Post by Morthrai »

We are making changes to our schedule, releasing more often but with smaller issues. Here's the full announcement from Norm:

"We rely on folks, burgeoning or accomplished writers (and artists) to lend us their works. Protodimension Magazine is a fan-based publication. But I have learned a lot about volunteer contributors. They have lives that prevent them from writing down that great adventure that they ran over last weekend or that prevents them from redrawing the maps they passed out to their players. We get that.

I continue to be impressed at the quality you guys send us. However, compiling a sufficient selection of contributions for the large format we currently issue is challenging; one big issue every 3 months is demanding on contributors, editors, and the production team. For this reason, Issue 23 will be the last quarterly issue of Protodimension Magazine.

But wait. We cannot simply give up. So we are switching to a monthly format that is lighter, featuring one or two main articles and a couple of smaller ones. The focus would be the same, but instead of monolithic deadlines contributors can send us their stuff whenever they finish it.

We still want your stuff! Protodimension Magazine will be smaller and more frequent. You guys make this publication what it is. Let’s keep it working!"

Very interesting!
Like others here, real life has been getting in the way of my intended contributions to PD and also in the way of gaming so I sympathize with all of you :(

A monthly (or even two-monthly) format would certainly demand less time per issue and might even encourage people to submit more often?

Thanks Lee,
Yes it's been at least two or three months since I posted anything here :(
My computer had one of those wonderful Windows 8 errors that requires taking it to the shop, something I just haven't had the money for. I'm making do on a very basic comp I've borrowed for the interim - basic is right, it doesn't even have a graphics card but at least it has Vista (something a lot more stable than that poxy Win8 system!)

Likewise I've got a couple of things I need to finish but am having trouble finding the time. Ironically it's gaming that's getting in the way. I'm GM in my group and preparing an adventure every week eats into the time I would normally set aside for writing.

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

Now that Marcus has these forums back up and running, here is a reminder! We are as usual still looking for Protodimension submissions. Now would be a good time to polish things up and send them over.

Cheers :)
