This article was written from the point of view of someone surviving a virus outbreak by foraging for plants in a city and was commissioned for the support website of the TV show "The Colony"
It's a bit wordy but I think it gives some good background ideas for Proles trying to supplement their food rations. It could lead to some interesting encounters when the PCs discover Proles hanging around a well planted neighbourhood with the sole intention of harvesting some plants.

One very old trick is to check the dumpsters behind fast food joints right after closing. Most of them lock their dumpster lids now.
