So... proto-dimensions could be real?

Post by ReHerakhte »

Ranga-Ram Chary, a cosmologist at the California Institute of Technology studying Cosmic Microwave Background radiation (CMB) has found an anomalous area of light that could possibly be an indication that our universe "bumped" into another universe.
The concept linking it to DC's proto-dimension is explained better by the website than by me trying to summarize it, so to quote the article: -
Think of it this way: in a cosmos where everything is expanding all the time, multiverse theorists speculate that some areas of energy would expand faster than others, creating pocket universes somewhat like soap bubbles—sometimes with vastly different properties and laws of physics.

When these “bubbles” occasionally collide with each other—or with us— it’s possible that they might leave behind some of their material. Hence, the cosmic bruise potentially spotted by Chary.

This is scarily similar to Mitch Polley's article about dimensional physics from the very first issue of Demonground - very interesting! 8)

For all the criticism that GDW gets about their Twilight: 2000** game, it seems that they were not actually too far into the fantastic with some aspects of DC, which is a game that relies on the fantastic!

**The criticisms are usually "hindsight arguments" regarding the actual military power of the Soviet Union, as in, the game portrays them as far more of a threat than they probably were. In the last two decades we have been able to get much better info than was available to the GDW writers and a lot of the critics fail to recognize that GDW didn't have access to that information

I remember that - always a useful reference when player character boffin types start asking questions about the science behind protodimensions. Even more essential now that it's turned out to be more or less true!
