Conspiracy X ?

Post by Marcus Bone »

Hi All,

I see that Con X has been having a pretty successful time with its Kickstarters, with the latest already successful (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/180 ... k?ref=live). Has anyone purchased anything of these or looked into it?

I like the idea of Con X myself, but not so sure about the system (Unisystem never really grabbed me). Do we have and Con-Xers here?

Hey Marcus :)

I have played Con X in both versions, and looking at it from the rules side the original set is pretty clever. Unisystem, as its name suggests, came about to unify a rules set across all of Eden's current games at the time. Personally I find Unisystem is somewhat easier to get on with in general play.

Of course, who amongst us ever uses any system straight from the book? 8)

I bought the first version of Conspiracy X when it came out but never played it - fact is, I never intended to play it either, I was pillaging it for material for Dark Conspiracy.

I used to know a few people who tried it but they didn't seem too interested in playing it as a long term game. This also seemed to be true of many of the later conspiracy-horror RPGs here in my hometown. Call Of Cthulhu was the "big kid on the block" when it came to horror RPGs here and I think most people were playing that.

Never played it but have made use of a few scenarios and other material when playing Dark Conspiracy.

I think Mr Beck, occasional visitor this forum, was a fan and may have had some involvement in one of the later editions?
