Was never going to happen. The Mayans already had their apocalypse when Senor Cortez and his amigos pitched up on their doorstep with guns, horses, smallpox and VD. They never predicted that, did they?

That's good to hear. My folks have just come back from NZ. Dad said he had a strange feeling of deja vu walking around the quake hit cities - looked just like London where he grew up after the war.

Glad to hear that!

I must say that this was the worst doomsday in decades. The Y2K glitch...THAT was a doomsday!

I think the general public has had their fill of doomsdays. There seems to have been at least one every 5-10 years for the last 20 years.
However, considering that this one (i.e. 2012) was meant to be "the BIG one" in the minds of the conspiracy/doomsday/foolish crowd, I would have thought that there would have been more attention from the media and public.
Oh well, commonsense won the day, there weren't too many people selling all their property this time (unlike the doomsday predicted for sometime in the 1990s - guess they had to buy it all back huh?)
It's not whether you win or lose,

It's whether I win...

There were some villages which were besieged by tourists in Mexico and strangely enough in France. To them it was quite some attention I guess. For the fans of conspiracies did you notice that Hale Bopp was as important to the launch of DC2 as the Maya 2012 was to DC3? Coincidence? Conspiracy? You decide!

My favourite story is a local one, when, on the 21st, a lady had a bird just drop from the sky in front of her.

For a split second she thought the prophecy might be true :P
