Always on the lookout for ways of improving the DCtRPG.info website, I have been working on a new layout for the Game Index page. Now complete with images and a much better layout, you can see what I've done so far here -

Hope to complete the rest of the Challenge Magazine index (and add the Demonground one) ASAP!

Good to see the site going from strength to strength.

Been a while since I did an update, but I've been ticking away in the background on this and that. New to DCtRPG.info - a brief chat with Eric Haddock!

Interesting to read about someone who was there at the beginning. Good to know that even GDW staff sometimes found their gaming systems a bit on the tricky side!

I concur with Linden, that definitely was an interesting read!

Tabloid - Taking on Water

Seems as if Monday (my time) is the day for new content for DCtRPG.info. This time it's a brief Tabloid inspired by the reading of the New Orleans supplement (which sparked life from my decaying memory)...

More DCtRPG.info content to come, and let's see if we can't make June 2013 the month of releases for the site!

I enjoyed the interview with Eric, and "Taking On Water" is pretty neat!

Keep it coming Marcus :D

Article - Dark Future vs Alternate America

As I said, I'm making June update month, with at least one post per week. The first offering is -

http://www.darkconspiracytherpg.info/20 ... e-america/

My look at making Dark Conspiracy a better game by bringing it back to its roots! I'd really love some comments or opinions on this, as its a bit of a leap for me and the site.

Thanks,

Marcus

I guess you're all getting used to the crazily regular updates :P Here's my second posting (on the second Monday) for June 2013.

As always comments and feedback is welcome (especially as I didn't get as much editing time on this one as I'd have liked :P)

Found it an interesting read Marcus. The two campaigns I ran, I told the players it's an alternate version of the future, one where mass produced electronics aren't so prevalent due to them being expensive. Without going into specific detail I've taken the view that the far eastern nations responsible for cheap mass production in "our" world have fallen prey to regional conflicts, ethnic strife and internal rebellions. Their economies aren't in any shape to be knocking out mobile phones and computers nineteen to the dozen. Other nations are taking up the slack but like Japan in the post war period haven't quite got the hang of it yet.

Agree with you that retro-look per films like Brazil is an essential part of DC, always loved that noirish vibe you got with some of the art. I don't think the game ever made enough of that, but I have to admit I've never been particularly successful at incorporating it into my campaigns either. I think when we discussed this on the board before we said the retro-chunkiness could be a deliberate design feature (yeah, bakelite's back in fashion!) rather than being dictated by function.

Very interesting Marcus. I think that's a very good way of keeping the flavour of the original edition :)

We're going a slightly different path with the 3HG material. We have an alternate timeline, but it's more about world events of the 1990s continuing to drag on and on...perpetual military campaigns sucking resources out of the USA and so forth. The Greater Depression continues because there's no real money to be made unless you are a corp executive or Nome. Modern real-world technology is only available to the rich; everyone else has things that look like the stuff our parents had when I was a kid in the 1970s...well that's how I picture it. 8)

Wealthier Mikes can have bag phones, or the original cells that look like an old military radio. :)

DCtRPG.info Site Updates

Posted: Tue Sep 08, 2015 9:16 am
by Marcus Bone
Hi All...

Partly as the result of the recent outages, and partly as a result of my post in April (about the future of the site and forum), I've been producing quite a bit of content. My plan at the moment is to release one new article, tabloid adventure seed, review or other tidbit a month for the next wee while.

This post will act as a bit of a teaser and hopefully keep interest in the site up.

In October I have an interview with an ex-GDW freelancer who has moved on to much bigger and better things. A fair bit of warning - the interview is quite old - I actually thought it was lost, but the recent site outage had me burrowing through old back-ups and what do you know :P

Hope you all enjoy the chat I had - as it reveals more than a few rumours about DC's original publishers...

November's update is review of a very different game in the Dark Conspiracy family.

In addition, I've continued to make updates to the site structure and background.
