Antenna, Thanks again. Turns out my book is a Mark 0 original. I web searched for the errata and found some. Luckily the errata I found does not seem to have any meaningful effect on the small arms designs. The guns and gauss weapon sections have only minor errors and most of them have to do with cr...

Antenna, Thanks for the info. I did not know there were some errors in FFS. How do I tell which version I have and do you know where I can get some errata? (Hmm, better google it.) Of course, I mainly care about small arms. Hopefully you don't need 120 mm mortars in DC too often. (If you do, the min...

Fire, Fusion, and Steel
Or we could just say gun design. ;) I managed to get a copy of the old GDW book Fire Fusion and Steel from my friend. This book has all the formulas and tables to translate real world guns into the game. It was how all the guns (maybe not the XM series) were created. I don't know how the license for...

Hi all, Sorry about being away but it was the 4th of July here in the States. Technically it was the 4th of July everywhere at some point, but it is more important in America. ;) So anyhow, I have read the proposal of Aptitudes and have thought about it some. Here are my thoughts. Please note that t...

I am not sure I agree here. While I agree that it is difficult to see how some of the skills are related to attributes, most do have a somewhat logical connection. However, I think the list as is was designed partly for play balance. Each attribute has quite a few skills related to it. If you think ...

Since we are talking about auto fire here, let me share our rules. New Autofire Rules One of the best things about DC is that the Characters can fight back against the dark minions pretty well if they can figure out their evil plots. Overall DC combat is not too bad. However several rules are truly ...

I have developed an excel spreadsheet to store characters in. It automatically calculates d20 skill assets as well as hit copacities, to hit numbers, and cascades skill level (using my interpetation of the rules.) I would be glad to send you a copy. I also found another excel sheet in my travels tha...

Should terms be more even in total benefits?
Several career terms give very few things while several terms give a lot of skills, money, and contacts. Should an effort be made to even the benefits out so as things are more balanced? Example: 1 term in the military generally gives a ton of skills from basic training and then the first term packa...

Jeff, Good suggestions. I had not heard that the military was more flexible now. I always assumed the first enlistment was 4 years. As for the money, that is really not quite what I was aiming for. The idea behind the variable lengths was mostly cosmetic. In my games I generally limit all the charac...

Rule Suggestions: Character Creation
Hey gang, In an effort to start some discussions about the 3rd rules, I wanted to propose some things and get some feedback. What do people thing of using a variable length for career terms during character creation? For example, most people that go to college take 4 years, but others take 5 (like m...

That is the beauty of Proto-Dimensions, they can be anything you want. Some are just like Earth but something very minor is different. Others are totally wild. It reminds me of the Umbral Realms in the old White Wolf Werewolf and Mage settings. Just remember a Proto-dimension can be what ever you ne...

I considered a set of adventures based on Sliders at one point. I liked the idea of the PCs being lost in the protodimensions. I did have one group early on that did quite a bit of dimension hopping now that I think about it. I mostly used the ones from the PD guide book and maybe some stuff from th...
