Re: Brainstorming for a new DarkCon campaign
I think you're absolutely right in wanting to your DC game a separate identity from Call of Cthulhu. The first campaign I ran I had some difficulty getting out of of the Cthulhoid mindset. I'd run old CoC scenarios from magazines with only minimal work, excising references to tomes, spells and insan...

Re: Let's Write a Dark Conspiracy adventure...
I think it's the kind of story you could set in any number of places, whatever suits you.

Re: DC III and recoil
Recoil has always been a bit clunky and time-consuming in the GDW system whether it's Twilight: 2000 2nd or 2.2 editions, Dark Conspiracy, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs or Traveller: The New Era. Slightly OT but I always thought the dice 20 (not D20  ) version of the House System was one its bett...

Re: Another GDW line gets revived
The "special" dice in particular is something that I have no love for. Apparently in one other Year Zero game, for any consumable supplies you have, you roll your gimmick die to determine if you have reduced your supply of said consumable. In the example I read, I think you start with one...

Re: Another GDW line gets revived
I'm still not keen on the Year Zero rules even though Free League are modifying them to better fit T2k, however I might be convinced to try them... I've been playing in a game of the Alien RPG. I don't find the Year Zero rules too bad, although the GM is slower than a wet week in Goole and we're ab...

Re: Dark Times to Relaunch
Excellent news. Loved Demonground and Protodimension and it's good to see the tradition will continue with a relauched Dark Times. Is there a deadline date for contributions to the next issue?

Re: QAnon
Anyway, to get to the point, he had a link to a blog post about QAnon that was written up back in 2018, it makes for some interesting reading, the author makes the claim that QAnon is basically a data-mining operation conducted by some department of the US government to provide predictive threat as...

Re: QAnon
My personal favourite crap British spy is Michael Bettaney, who not only tried to pass documents to the USSR by posting them through a KGB general's letterbox, which was being watched by a double agent, but also got sacked by MI5 after being arrested for public drunkeness (literally shouting "...

Re: QAnon
As far as I recall, the events and actions from the Australian side of things were legit and done in good faith but I am left wondering why some random CIA agent would even bother to pass such information on to a politician of an allied nation. Why specifically a politician and not the intelligence...

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
I really liked SS-GB, a fine adaptation of one of Deighton's most opaque novels. I think it mainly differed from the book in that things were left open for a second series*. The novel has a certain finality about it.
*Although I gather it's not going to happen now.

Re: QAnon
I'm wondering, much as with the Trump presidency itself, if the whole thing isn't a wind-up that's got well and truly out of hand.

The vigilante angle made me think of TV movie The Gladiator. Mechanic goes on a vengeance rampage in a monster truck after his brother is killed by a homicidal motorist. Good cheesy fun, directed by Abel Ferrera of "Driller Killer" infamy.

I like the split species/personality idea.
Heard the radio prog quite by accident. Just happened to stick the radio on hoping for the news while I was making my evening meal. Serendipity indeed.

Have to admit I was totally unaware of this bunch of...ahem.. eccentrics, until BBC radio did a programme on it earlier this evening: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000lf1t The whole thing just screams DC: QAon is a bonkers organic/brain slice AI that's uncovered a Cobra Man org. Whether or not t...
