Re: April 2022 Rumblings

I'm just rumbling along with a hybrid of 1st and 2nd eds for now. If it appears in shiny new form, great, if not... that's life.

Re: DC style farming comes a little bit closer

I'm actually liking the "low impact" farming robots over the heavy equipment in the DC rulebook. Sure, a rogue bot could be a handy encounter, but a rogue swarm, packing lasers and toxic microdots... now that has some serious potential.

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy

I just had to run a search to see if anyone has mentioned this yet and was a little surprised no-one else has. Back in the 90s, Bill Paxton starred in a low budget conspiracy/horror movie called Monolith (also with John Hurt and Louis Gosset Jr). It's pretty obscure now but used to be quite common t...

Re: Drive thru product.......

As a side note, I just printed it out and took the gamble of printing it booklet/A5 and it has come out pretty good at that scale. That makes it that bit more appealing as a player resource as I feel I can print out a couple of copies for the same effective cost for my players to use.

Re: I want to start a horror-conspiracy podcast...

I'd pretty much given up on getting the sequel off the ground to, so let the domain name expire a mere two weeks ago.

Still, who knows. It's definitely a better concept as a group effort, it's hard to keep yourself motivated on a "Project:" like that.

Congratulations. Although it does make me look like I only joined up to partake in the champagne.

Thank you for being part of the force that keeps the game alive.

Re: Inspirational Music for Dark Conspiracy

Reading this has actually mildly frustrated me. Like a lot of you, I've used music quite a lot. I have mainly used a mix of soundtrack stuff in the past (The Abyss, Aliens, Schindler's List, Event Horizon and many more) and will likely use a good few again in my next campaign (especially as the subs...

Re: Your Dark Conspiracy Collection?

I had copies of everything there (except the Master Edition), but only multiples of a few (Core Rules, Nightsider, PC Booster and DarkTek). The only big additions are the Minion Hunter/Minion Nation (2xCopies of the latter) games. That said, all of my DPI stuff ended up being passed on (except for t...

Re: Future of this Forum...

There was an article about DC in one of the old UK independent RPG mags and the writer (Jonathan Turner, I think) essentially compared the horror in the game to those scenes in modern/future horror films where a character sits dissecting a threat, looking for a weakness. For all of it's mystical ov...

Re: Dark Conspiracy-like novels

It's a little bit too tidy and feels a lot like it should be a Buffy spin-off, but Christopher Golden's "Prowlers" series has a supernatural enemy (similar to Werewolves) with a decent structure and motive that could easily be ported into a conspiracy/horror game.

Re: DC Editions

I have to admit, even though I've owned every edition, I tend to default to First edition. I enjoyed the Second Edition system and haven't run CR yet (despite pretty much buying it "out of the gate"), but my heart always lies with first.

Re: Future of this Forum...

Another strength of DC for me was the designer's decision to have the game as "monsters hurt humans, humans hurt 'em right back". This was my favourite part of DC. It was never a hopeless battle against overwhelming odds, sure the odds were tight, but a clever, well organised and well-equ...
