Re: UFO, who should go?
Also, depending on the view of the government agency behind the expedition, there might be a team of media types, photographers, journalists, etc., all sworn to secrecy of course, along to document the site for posterity. They might even be a military film team.

from CE3k: "Excuse me. Before I got paid to, uh, speak French, I, uh, I used to read maps. This first number is a longitude...Two sets of three numbers. Degrees, minutes, and seconds. The first number has three digits and the last two are below sixty. Obviously, it's not in the right ascension ...

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
I assume TV like X-files, American Gothic, Supernatural, VR5, Dark Angel, Max Headroom, Harsh Realm, and Twin Peaks has already been mentioned? Flashforward had some interesting ideas and despite the hype I find myself intrigued by NBCs, The Event. We'll have to see.

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
Some people do run a CoC-ish flavor of DC. I didn't see Doomsday, just the commercials. I heard it was pretty bad.

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
Didn't read through all the posts, has anyone mentioned "In the Mouth of Madness", with Sam Neill? A little over the top, but a creepy idea all the same. It would be difficult to translate toa group dynamic, though. Another mind trip movie I liked was "1408", but again, a lot of ...

Re: Less tough heros
That's another way to handle it. I think we made the decision based on how many .357 magnum rounds, with average rolls, the average character could take to the head. And it was more than one. My observation at the time was that the system was essentially the same as TW2k, but the theme of the two ga...

Re: Less tough heros
OK, I looked up what we did. We did away with the 2x multiplier for Critical wounds and made that 1x. Serious then became .5x, Slight .25x and Scratch anything up to .25x. Now, this may seem harsh, but it was based on average damage rolls versus various areas of the body, and the likelihood that any...

Re: How to destroy a Demonground?
If you want to give this system a little bleaker outlook, consider: Dark One opens a portal in an area. Beasties come through, all manner of horrors take place. The human inhabitants are either killed outright or driven away. This area becomes a Demonground. Now, all the methods above are fine for t...

Re: Using the Rules as Written?
Are we talking the rules from the PC Booster Kit? Which convert it from a D10 system to a true D20 system?

Less tough heros
A house rule we went to a few months in concerned the Hit Capacity part of the chr sheet. We shifted everything one column, right I think. Whichever direction would make the damage amounts a chr could take a bit more realistic. I'd have to look it up. Any thoughts?

Re: Incorporating existing material
When of my favorite tactics was to expand articles from the Weekly World News (RIP). I would buy it every week and cut out articles that promised, to me, some sort of Dark One involvement. I occasionally even found stories in real newspapers that suggested foul play, like unexplained suicides, explo...

Re: How did you discover YOUR Dark Conspiracy?
As I said, everyone's path is different. Great to hear these stories. If you are familiar with the name Chuck Kallenbach III it'll interest you that his wife worked at my local hobby shop (one I would come to work at as well) and we used to hang out all the time. He was, at one time, tasked with wri...
