Re: Bits and Bobs:
The last DC game I ran I made use of the Cyberpunk 2020 rough guide to the UK. It's atrociously written but does have some good material in terms of regional settings and adventure ideas. Bought a second hand copy going for a song on ebay, I'd say I'd got my money's worth from it, and I'd use it aga...

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
It was the 80s, the AUG was the look of "The Future". You've got those, and the space shuttles but then there's the mayhem in the streets scenes towards the end which hark back to 60s hammer. I think it's a film that nails the DC retro-future aesthetic, but in a different way to, say, Str...

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
I remember seeing it years ago, probably on VHS back in the eighties and thinking it was utter pants. I really enjoyed it this time around. It's a failure, but it's an interesting failure. Netflix currently hosting the "international" version which I gather is a bit longer than the UK rele...

Re: Two new weapons books on DriveThruRPG
I always remember the Browning HP35 was the best 9mm pistol in Dark Conspiracy, a third less recoil and a lot more bullets than most of its competitors. This from a pistol that pre-dates the second world war. The old ones are the best.

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
Just watched barmy space vampire romp Lifeforce . The script's a mess, hobbled as it is by Colin Wilson's idiosyncratic take on psychology, but it's fun seeing how the film evolves from a kind of poor man's Alien to a full on Hammer-Quatermass pastiche. The scenes where London goes up in smoke in a ...

Re: Two new weapons books on DriveThruRPG
The two books cover many items that are very much suitable for Merc: 2000 and Dark Conspiracy as the author has included items from the 2000-2020 time period. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Arto%20Roth As time's gone on I find myself increasingly liking the retro feel of the origina...

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
I remember it also featured Patrick Malahide, who is a very fine actor, but for Brits of a certain age will always be the hapless Detective Sergeant "Charlie" Chisholm in Minder.

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
Is Hunted the one with Melissa George? I thought it started well, but became more and more ludicrous as it went on. I seem to remember one scrap in a farmyard where our heroine and friend disarm a bunch of gun toting thugs with their bare hands. Some pretty high Initiative scores there!

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
Spring has been compared to 1981 film Possession which stars Sam Neil and Isabel Adjani. A film I've always meant to see but have never got round to. Was banned as part of the video nasty panic back in the 80s but I think it's a more thoughtful film than it was given credit for, by the BBFC at any ...

Re: Inspirational Movies and TV for Dark Conspiracy
Recently watched three films by writing/acting/directing duo Justin Benson/Aaron Moorhouse: Resolution in which the protagonist tries to help his old school pal get clean from drugs. An impromptu detox in a cabin on a native American reservation probably not the best idea, especially when the area i...

I'd agree there's definitely a touch of old school religious hysteria about it all.

Re: Cthulhu Rising
Hi, you should ckeck out New Horizon, a Cthuhlu Rising hack https://gitlab.com/NHcthulhu/NewHorizon Thanks for that, will give it a look. I'm actually running a game of Cthulhu Rising on Tuesday. Met some chaps from Bristol via a Discord group and played a one-shot game of Mothership which went wel...

I'm not the only one who thinks QAnon might be a joke that's gone a bit too far:
